Project Overview
Elouera Constructions was engaged to deliver heritage refurbishment works at Garden Island, NSW, as part of a Department of Defence project.
The project involved the careful restoration of a heritage structure affected by termite damage, including the removal and replacement of damaged cladding, posts and flooring. Due to the age and significance of the site, the works required close attention to detail, careful material selection and a strong respect for the original design.
Heritage Timber Restoration
All replacement timber was custom milled to replicate the original profiles and detailing, helping preserve the character and integrity of the existing heritage structure.
The timber works were completed by Elouera Constructions’ in-house carpentry team, with a focus on achieving a finish that remained sympathetic to the original building while providing durable, high-quality replacement elements.
Delivery & Outcome
The project was completed over an eight-week program by Elouera Constructions’ skilled trades team. Working alongside the Department of Defence and the Australian Defence Force on a 100-year-old heritage site was a rewarding experience for the team and required a high standard of workmanship, coordination and care.
This project demonstrates Elouera Constructions’ capability in delivering commercial heritage refurbishment works, particularly where traditional detailing, specialist carpentry, site sensitivity and long-term preservation are central to the outcome.
